Common Publishing Delays and What’s Normal
Publishing inside Gemini HQ relies on your domain, DNS settings, and browser caching. A few delays are completely normal, especially during setup or right after changes. This guide explains what you may see and what’s considered normal.
DNS Propagation
When a new domain is connected or records are updated, the internet needs time to recognize the change. This is called propagation.
What’s normal:
Changes taking 15 minutes to a few hours
Full propagation taking up to 24 hours
Occasional delays up to 48 hours depending on the registrar
What you may see:
“Not Secure” warnings during the transition
A page not loading for some users but loading for others
This usually resolves on its own once DNS finishes updating.
SSL Activation
Gemini HQ issues an SSL certificate for your site. SSL protects customer data and removes “Not Secure” browser warnings.
What’s normal:
SSL taking 5 to 30 minutes after a domain is connected
Occasional delays if the DNS isn’t fully propagated yet
What you may see:
A brief “Not Secure” label in the browser
A delay before the lock icon appears
SSL activates automatically once DNS is stable.
Browser Caching
Browsers save older versions of pages to load them faster. Sometimes you won’t see recent changes right away because the browser is showing the stored version.
What’s normal:
Pages taking a few minutes to refresh
Needing to hard-refresh to see updates
Needing to clear cache if the page still looks outdated
What you may see:
New changes not showing instantly
A design update appearing on mobile but not desktop (or the opposite)
This is common and resolves once the cache updates.
Page-Builder Syncing
When you publish changes in the Gemini HQ page builder, the system needs a few moments to sync and push updates live.
What’s normal:
A 1 to 10 minute delay
Larger images or sections taking longer to appear
Occasional need to republish a section if it didn’t sync
What you may see:
Updates not showing immediately
A design block looking “stuck” until a refresh
Syncing happens automatically once the system catches up.
When Delays Are Not Normal
Contact support if you experience:
no change after several hours
persistent SSL errors
404 or domain-routing issues
a domain not connecting after full propagation
updates not publishing after multiple attempts
These signal something beyond normal setup delays.
When to contact Support
